500ft abseil for charity launches Premier Sustain’s new sustainable service

To mark the launch of its new sustainable workplace solutions, Premier Sustain took part in a 500ft abseil down Guys Hospital tower on Sunday 18th September to raise money for St Mungo’s which works to prevent homelessness and support homeless people in London and the South.

The new Premier Sustain service uses the principles of the waste hierarchy to direct and manage resources sustainably, delivering social and environmental benefits as well as cost savings. In the last three months, Premier Sustain, on behalf of its clients, has resold 3,000 items of furniture and donated 1,000 items to charities and social enterprises. The company has also recycled over 230 tonnes of waste, saving over £11,000 for its clients in landfill tax alone. The carbon emission savings from this new service have exceeded 500 tonnes to date.

“Premier was absolutely fantastic at our Guy’s Hospital Abseil, bringing bags of enthusiasm and plenty of cheering supporters, and they’ve raised so much money! We would like to say thank you to the whole team for their dedicated support, helping St Mungo’s to continue to house, support and care for vulnerable and excluded people who are at risk of homelessness or are currently sleeping rough.” Said Lisa Long, St Mungo’s Corporate team.

Premier Sustain supports St Mungo’s through its Giving Back Project, the reuse element of the service that gives clients the opportunity to donate unwanted furniture and equipment. Six members of the Sustain team (Amanda Russinger, Phil Oram, Carl Robson, Faye Russinger, Danielle Robson and Ann Beavis) were inspired to take part in the challenge by the passion and commitment of the St Mungo’s team. The team didn’t let their nerves get the better of them and completed the abseil down Guy’s Hospital Tower at London Bridge on Sunday 18th September.

I think we would all agree that this abseil has been an amazing, once in a lifetime experience and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to take part and further support the excellent work of the St Mungo’s team.”
