British Library
Client Requirements
The British Library required a contractor to provide a professional move management, sequential pack, relocation and sequential unpack of 205 linear kilometres of library materials. The British Library built a state of the art archive centre, within the grounds of its campus just outside Leeds. The relocation was to enable the British Library to dispose of some of its London Buildings as a result of this project.
Project Solution
Premier Moves set up a specialised team to plan, manage and deliver this highly specialised move to ensure that this project was delivered meticulously. The delicate nature of the materials being handled required a unique approach and a highly skilled team.
In order to maintain the integrity of the relocation programme, Premier Moves invested in specific plant and equipment including a brand new tractor, articulated trailers, project specific handling equipment, and our own stock of crates, cages, and library trolleys.
Premier Moves ensured that the British Library’s strict security codes were upheld. All staff deployed on the project, from Project Managers to packers, were vetted and checked by both Premier Moves and the British Library’s own security team.
Project Feedback
To date, Premier Moves have received plaudits from the British Library’s own project teams based in London and Leeds, which has allowed us to build a good relationship with them. Our partnership has already paid dividends, resulting in additional moves and changes which were not part of the original scope.
We have introduced the British Library to some other key services from the Premier Moves Group. This has included our storage services and the recycling and reuse and obsolete furniture and equipment through Premier Sustain.
We are also introducing the British Library to some other key Premier Moves Group services including storage and Premier Sustain to assist with the disposal and recycling of reuse and obsolete racking systems.
